FAQs

  • We currently only accept insurance for OPWDD recipients with developmental disabilities (including intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, and other neurological impairments).

We also provide superbills for Out-of-Network reimbursement if applicable.

  • It’s best to contact your insurer directly to inquire about out of network behavioral health coverage.

    These questions might be helpful:

    • Does my health insurance plan cover out of network mental health benefits?

     • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

     • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

     • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

If you have out of network benefits, we would be happy to provide you with invoices to submit to your insurance companies for reimbursement.

Insurance companies typically cover 70- 85% of cost.

Please check with your insurance company to find the amount they cover, as each managed care organization varies.

We are not responsible for confirming out of network benefits, so please make sure you are in touch with your insurer.

  • A child may benefit from therapy when:

    1. Big feelings get in the way of daily life.
Things like intense anxiety, frequent sadness, emotional outbursts, or worries that seem bigger or more persistent than typical for their age.

    2. Their behavior changes suddenly or lasts longer than expected.
For example: sleep problems, withdrawal, irritability, loss of interest, regression (bedwetting, clinginess), or a drop in school performance.

    3. They’re avoiding things they used to handle well.
School, friends, activities, or everyday tasks like separating from you, sleeping alone, or trying new things.

    4. They’re struggling socially.
Trouble making or keeping friends, reading social cues, or increased conflict at home or school.

    5. You see signs of anxiety, OCD, trauma, or depression.
Intrusive thoughts, rituals, excessive fears, perfectionism, persistent sadness, or difficulty recovering from a stressful or scary event.

    6. Their reactions feel “bigger” than the situation—often and intensely.
Meltdowns, shutdowns, or emotional overwhelm that’s frequent, long-lasting, or hard to soothe.

    7. You’re stuck as a parent and don’t know what else to try.
Therapy can give you tools—and sometimes the parent work matters as much as the child’s work.
